For the record
I’ve got a couple of substantial posts on the docket, but this one’s pressing: Karim just told me that every Friday, a marketplace opens in Souq al-Goma where I could find vinyl, among other old, magical things. He said he saw a cylinder gramophone there for 100 Egyptian Pounds (less than $20).
“It was from King Farouk’s time,” he said.
Plus, the vendor was willing to throw in free discs.
This obviously alters my previous plans to sleep late, for the first time in weeks. There’s always Saturday.
